Tigh Na Failte B&B - 'A house of welcome'
Are you fishing on the River Dee ?

Exploring the Castle or Whisky Trails?

Enjoying a golfing or sporting break?

Looking for a memorable getaway to Royal Deeside?

Then come to Tigh Na Failte B&B

Tigh Na Failte is a traditional granite built steading in the heart of Royal Deeside, with excellent access to both banks of the river .  It is positioned on a ridge top with an uninterrupted view looking out to the hills of Kerloch, Clachnaben and Scolty and the fabulous Dee valley.

On a quiet country lane with only 8 other homes within a 0.5 km radius we have stunning night-skies, a lack of traffic noise and peaceful surroundings. From the back, the view to the north is across agricultural land to forestry. Little used rural and forest walks are available from the door, whilst the River Dee and the grounds of Crathes Castle are within walking distance (2.5 km). There is rich bird life, red squirrels inhabit the nearby forestry, deer frequent the surrounding fields and woodland, and otters and trout have been seen in the Coy Burn 300m below the steading.

The steading was converted to a home in 1991 and the combination of thick solid granite walls with modern insulation, central heating and double glazing, make it a very warm, draught-free house. A tarred driveway off a quiet rural road provides ample parking.

We have two rooms always available in the guest wing of the house, a double with a super king size bed – which can be converted to a very comfortable twin room and also a delightful single room.  Rooms have their own colour TV and luxury bath robes. Guests have an exclusive luxury bathroom with sunken bath and power shower.  These ground floor rooms have just a couple of steps with handrails from the dining room so are suitable to those less mobile.

Guests have use of the large lounge to relax in after a hard day out with comfortable sofas and a log burner style stove.

For larger groups we do have additional rooms with en-suite facilities but we do need some notice to have these available.

Our rates include a full home cooked breakfast with various choices and of course porridge as an option together with a hot drink in the evening.  Breakfast is taken in the dining room with a view eastwards into the large garden and overlooking the bird feeders where we have woodpeckers, and various tits and finches visiting.

Outside we have a large enclosed rear garden with space for ball games which children are invited to use under parental supervision.

The nearby town of Banchory has a range of shops and numerous other facilities including a specialist chocolate shop, fine delicatessen, the Orvis outdoor shop and many others.

Crathes is an ideal area for the outdoor enthusiast for the wide and varied range of sporting activities on Upper Deeside including golfing, cycling, walking,  skiing, mountaineering, gliding, fishing, riding, sailing and canoeing and the Aberdeenshire coast is within easy reach, some 16 miles away.
